The Role
We’re seeking a Compliance Manager to lead and oversee the credit union’s compliance framework, ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements and internal policies. This is a key strategic role, working closely with senior leadership to embed a culture of compliance across all departments. The ideal candidate will be both detail-oriented and forward-thinking, with the confidence to advise on evolving regulatory landscapes while keeping member interests at the forefront.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of the compliance and risk management framework
- Act as the designated Compliance Officer and MLRO (if required)
- Ensure ongoing compliance with the Credit Union Act, AML legislation, GDPR, and all relevant regulatory guidelines (CBI, EBA, etc.)
- Prepare regular reports for the Board and senior management on compliance matters
- Oversee internal audits and work closely with external auditors and regulators during inspections
- Develop and deliver compliance training to staff at all levels
- Maintain and update internal policies, procedures, and risk registers
- Advise management on emerging risks, legislative changes, and best practices
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum QFA qualification (or working towards it)
- 3+ years’ experience in a compliance, audit, or risk role within financial services (credit union experience preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of financial regulations in Ireland, especially AML, GDPR, and governance standards
- Excellent communication and reporting skills, with the ability to interact confidently with all levels of the business
- Proven ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality work under pressure
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and compliance management tools
