Background Our client is seeking an ambitious and commercially aware Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join our growing civil engineering team. Key Responsibilities
Assist in the commercial management of civil engineering projects from pre-construction through to completion.
Prepare and manage project budgets, cost plans, and cash flow forecasts.
Administer contracts, including managing variations and maintaining accurate change control records.
Prepare, submit, and negotiate interim valuations and final accounts.
Review and certify subcontractor applications for payment and agree subcontractor final accounts.
Support procurement processes, including preparing tender packages and evaluating returns.
Contribute to monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVR) and commercial reporting.
Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
Liaise with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to ensure smooth commercial delivery.
Ensure compliance with company procedures and contractual requirements.
Key Skills Required
Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related discipline.
3-5 years’ experience in a Quantity Surveying role, ideally within civil engineering or infrastructure.
Working knowledge of standard construction contracts (e.g., NEC, FIDIC, or similar).
Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
Good negotiation and communication skills.
Commercially focused with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and cost management software.
