Background
Our client is seeking an ambitious and commercially aware Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join our growing civil engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a range of infrastructure and civil projects, supporting the commercial management of works from tender stage through to final account.
You will play a key role in cost control, contract administration, subcontract management, and financial reporting while developing your career within a supportive and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Assist in the commercial management of civil engineering projects from pre-construction through to completion.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, cost plans, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Administer contracts, including managing variations and maintaining accurate change control records.
  • Prepare, submit, and negotiate interim valuations and final accounts.
  • Review and certify subcontractor applications for payment and agree subcontractor final accounts.
  • Support procurement processes, including preparing tender packages and evaluating returns.
  • Contribute to monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVR) and commercial reporting.
  • Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to ensure smooth commercial delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and contractual requirements.

Key Skills Required

  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a Quantity Surveying role, ideally within civil engineering or infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of standard construction contracts (e.g., NEC, FIDIC, or similar).
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Good negotiation and communication skills.
  • Commercially focused with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and cost management software.
