About the Role – Senior Loans Officer
As Senior Loans Officer, you will play a pivotal role in leading the lending function, ensuring efficient processing, compliance, and high standards of member service. You’ll act as a senior point of contact for complex loan assessments and support the Lending Manager in driving the Credit Union’s credit strategy. This is a key role for someone looking to make an impact in a collaborative and values-driven financial institution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the assessment and approval of loan applications in line with credit policy and regulatory standards.
  • Undertake in-depth credit analysis and make sound, risk-aware lending decisions.
  • Provide oversight and mentorship to junior lending staff and contribute to internal training initiatives.
  • Support strategic development of loan products and member engagement campaigns.
  • Handle escalated member queries and provide expert guidance throughout the lending process.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and assist in arrears management with the credit control team.
  • Ensure full compliance with AML, GDPR, and Central Bank of Ireland regulations.
  • Produce lending reports and insights for internal stakeholders and regulatory audits.

Ideal Candidate

  • 3+ years’ experience in a lending or credit assessment role, ideally within a credit union or financial services environment.
  • Strong understanding of consumer credit regulations and risk assessment principles.
  • APA (Loans) qualification is essential; QFA is highly desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative, member-focused approach.
  • Strong organisational and decision-making abilities, with high attention to accuracy and compliance.
  • Experience working with loan management systems, digital banking tools, and CRM platforms is an advantage.

What’s on Offer

  • Competitive salary and attractive benefits package.
  • Support for further education (QFA or additional CPD).
  • Pension contribution, healthcare options, and employee recognition schemes.
  • A respected role within a growing, community-led Credit Union.
  • A values-driven culture with clear progression opportunities.
